Creating and sustaining a local wind
and solar supply chain

The wind and solar energy industries in Ontario are undergoing major changes as a result of the Green Energy Act. If the Feed-in Tariff (FIT) program and its domestic content requirements are to succeed the local wind and solar supply chains will need a rapid and sustained expansion.

Such large and ambitious growth requires strong and consistent regulatory support, industry and technology transfer, workforce up-skilling, community buy-in and financial backing. The Ontario FIT Supply Chain Forum will bring together regulators, developers, manufacturers, industry associations and financiers to discuss the gaps, bottlenecks and opportunities in the wind and solar supply chains in Ontario. Can these groups help guarantee the supply chain and create certainty and opportunity in the Ontario renewable energy industry?

Supporting utilities and their customers to deliver the GEA conservation targets

Under the ground-breaking Green Energy Act (GEA), the Ontario government requires all electric utilities to reduce peak demand by 1330 MW and consumption by 6,000 GWh within four years. These targets will require utilities to design and deliver ambitious energy conservation programs to their residential, commercial, institutional and industrial customers. The Ontario Energy Efficiency Forum will bring together regulators, utilities and their customers to examine the initiatives and incentives being developed to meet the GEA targets.
